I was SO wrong

7 08 2010

Nip/Tuck is totally a Soap. It’s worse than Dallas or Knot’s Landing could have ever hoped to be.

And I still love it.

In other news, while Spouse was at a LAN party playing Starcraft 2 today, I amused myself with more Nip/Tuck (as can be evidenced by the above) and took the kids out for lunch. We would have done more but it’s once again disgustingly hot & humid and the cicadas have a rousing hell chorus going as I type. I want to kill them all. And really, it’s not how they look that I find the most loathesome. I mean the way their wings vibrate when you touch them is certainly off putting, but it’s not the sole reason I cannot stand them. No, it’s their incessant noise and the fact that they always make that sound when it’s like this outside. Sticky, hazy, hot. I associate that noise with the most miserable days of summer. That and the fact that I grew up in a steel sided mobile home & one August it was so hot that transformers blew all over the city, leaving us without power for at least a week…well hearing that ever present buzz while I was trying to sleep in a glorified tin can every night doesn’t endear the little fuckers to me one bit.

I don’t remember who it was that told me when I was a child that the sound they make is them singing for more heat. I never forgot that. And even though I know this is not the case, I still cannot help but want to scream “SHUT THE FUCK UP” out my back door every August.

I’ll trade you my swarm of skeeters for your chorus of cicadas. Skeeters make me insane. Like…screaming, flailing, face tic, murderous insane.

Ugh, we have those too, circling the abandoned and algae-plagued pool. I have kept the boys away from it because of the heat and mosquitos. I think Spouse drained it earlier today though after liberally dousing himself with OFF.
